On March 5, the Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors (ICMAD) dinner celebrated the award recipients of its Young Designer’s competition at Le Meridien Delfina in Santa Monica, CA. Celebrity model and successful business entrepreneur Kathy Ireland served as the keynote speaker; Ireland is CEO and chief designer of kathy ireland Worldwide (kiWW), a design and brand marketing company that grossed over 1.9 billion dollars in retail sales in 2012.

The Young Designer’s competition awards the best design students around the country through their creativity and ingenuity. The event allows guests to network with peers and hear from key industry speakers.  First created in 1998, the Young Designer’s Competition has become the beauty industry’s most prestigious design award for college students. This year’s Young Designer prize went to George Martinez, from Otis College.
